Orpheus in the Underworld
There are many stories told repeatedly in art. Some have been told and retold for a thousand years and more. Repeatedly returned to again and again, retold to reflect changing times, interests and ideas, yet always focused on a significant event that speaks to us through the ages, uniting us across history through our continuous, never satisfied search for self-understanding. Orpheus' journey to the Underworld is one such repeated story, always we long that he does not make the fatal mistake, yet we never the less know that he cannot avoid it, for it is this inevitable human weakness that repeatedly draws us to his story and simultaneously makes the story.
