Text Composition - Egress
Many heads are floating
Including one I love
I long to reach out
Far enough
To prevent myself being robbed again
But the brink seems all to steep
Eyes wild and staring
Lips bleeding
Begging me to believe enough
Not to let the time take me down
Not to let me crumble to the bone
And to act before thinking
To fling myself where I must be flung
I scan the sky wildly
For some object to focus on
And then I feel I have it
Before I know what it is
I take off one shoe, then the other
cast them carefully, ritualistically aside
Tear off my socks
They feel like death on me
And finally I can tear myself from the bank
And find myself caught in the flood of the torrent
Laughing and crying beside you
