Text Composition - Two and One

There's a me that follows along behind myself
Observing how I go
Ready to make it's move when the time is right
Now affected
Now disaffected
Choosing
Either to go
Or not to go (with the flow)
(in the flow) this me observing is puzzled
By the two faces of the me it observes
One face is open to the world
The other face is an imposter
Who's memorised the wrong script
Full of ventriloquists mumbles and growls
Where did this clown arrive from
From out of (outer) space
Certainly he doesn't understand what this stage is for
Or maybe he understands
That behind all the fine phrases
What's really going on
Is nothing other than hue and cry
Maybe indeed he understands wrongly
When will the me who follows step in
To set things in order
What keeps him so calm and collected
Why can't he at least make
Some encouraging sign or gesture
