The curation process was responsive to mostly finished works and importantly remained open to proposals for artworks in process. This encouraged a greater diversity of creative practice and feedback, attracting both national and international submissions.
Electric Rain evolved a residency-exchange programme, resultant in the event: 'Ideal State', bringing Urbsounds Collective, based in Bratislava, Slovakia, into a live art event in Cork, May 2004. A part of the funding programme to celebrate the expansion of the EU, funded by Patricks Festival, Ireland and the Arts Council Ireland.
Art Trail, Cork, funded one event for the opening night of Art Trail, November 2003.
Cork 2005, Europen City of Culture, funded an Electric Rain programme as part of the celebrations of European City of Culure arts programme.
Running costs of other events were financially realised by a cover charge on the door.
Support Structures: Cork Artists Collective provided continuous, structural and financial support for Electric Rain's ideas. Cork Film Centre, CAVS and C.I.T. Media Communications Department, provided valuable support with technical equipment.
Development of Project: A number of key-artists were involved in steering the sucess of this project. Aoife McGovern and Tom Tracey helped me realise the birth of these ideas, co-steering the first two events; Robby Collins, Colette Lewis and Irene Murphy of Cork Artist's Collective, along with myself, then became the core steering team and progressively evolved the initiatives of Electric Rain until its last event, Ideal State, summer 2004. The name, Electric Rain, was then discontinued and the creative team disbanded.
Andrew Johnson and Robby Collins ( founder & co-director of Electric Rain), soon after formed a new collaborative practice called, CCrevolver, set up in early 2005 as a new collaborative venture. Artists, Elaine Mackey and Ger Staunton were invited to become co-steers for the live-event in July, 2005, part of Cork 2005, European City of Culture.
CCrevolver ran an Open Submission, 'Live Art, Music & Multimedia Event' based in Cork, Ireland, 2005; a celebration of music culture and the creative arts, Cork 2005, European City of Culture.
